A guided walk to the summit of Carnedd Llywelyn

Carnedd Llywelyn is the second highest mountain in all of England and Wales and is often included in a traverse of the Carneddau or an attempt at the 14 Peaks Challenge. As such the nearby peaks of Pen Yr Helgi and Du and Pen Llythrig y Wrach are often overlooked.

The Route

The route can be done in either direction although doing it clockwise is best. Although this does mean trapesing through some heather, the experience of reaching the summit of Pen Llythrig Y Wrach and being presented with such amazing views is breathtaking.

If doing the route anticlockwise, it is possible to cut the route short by descending into Cwm Eigiau from Bwlch Eryl Farchog.

Difficulty

This is not a difficult route although modest fitness is required. Expect it to take anywhere between 5 and 10 hours.
